Designed in the tradition of Franciscan values, these are quiet places where the routine of everyday life, its hectic pace and insistent demands, can be hedged out to pay attention to the inner urgings of heart and soul.

Each of our five dwellings are designed for you to relax, meditate, pray, and find inner peace.
Many hermits include spiritual direction and bodywork as part of their retreat;

SANTA CHIARA AND RIVO TORTO
Santa Chiara and Rivo Torto are our most popular hermitages. They are also the newest and have the most amenities. Each has a screened in porch, living room with electric fireplace, full size bed, bathroom, fully equipped kitchen, central air conditioning and heat.

GRECCIO AND LA FORESTA
Greccio and La Foresta are popular for their light, airy feel and views of the woods. Each has a porch, living room, twin bedroom, bathroom, fully equipped kitchen, window air conditioning, and central heat.

SAN DAMIANO
San Damiano is our most rustic hermitage and embodies simplicity. It has a screened porch, twin bed, bathroom, sitting area, electric wall heaters, oscillating fan, small “counter top” kitchen with a dorm size refrigerator, microwave, hot plate, coffee maker, and toaster oven.

General Information
- Most guests choose to prepare their own meals, grocery stores are located nearby. Kitchens are supplied with coffee, tea, creamer, sugar, sugar substitute, salt, pepper, pots, pans, cooking utensils, silverware, and dishes. With advance notice,
meals can be prepared by the Port chefs for additional cost.
- CD players are provided along with lanterns, umbrellas, and weather radios. Cell phones can be used but no internet access is available in the hermitages. Wi-Fi and a guest computer are located in the retreat house, but might be unavailable due to group use.
- All linens are provided including sheets, pillow cases, blankets, comforters, towels and wash cloths.
We look forward to welcoming you soon. Your key will be waiting for you at the office located in The Portiuncula Center for Prayer. You can drive your car to your hermitage to unload and then park your car in one of the designated lots.
