Franciscan Sisters of the Sacred Heart

They will never cross the Amazon River, drive the winding roads through the lush green of jungle foliage or feel the heat and see the oppressive poverty of the tenements in Para, Brazil. But for 20 years, the many members of the Brazilian Auxiliary have been missionaries in spirit.

Annually they organize a large Garage Sale to support our missionary efforts. Some of these volunteers come to the Woods every Wednesday to sort and price donated items for this Sale. Others come in the immediate months before the Sale to set up and display the items.

Over the years, the proceeds from the Sales have been used to build and outfit a dental clinic, to purchase a van and boat for the Sisters’ transportation, to provide flooring for the chapel and to help meet basic needs of the people with whom the Sisters work.
