The labyrinth is found in all religious traditions in various forms around the world. Our labyrinth at St. Francis Woods is a replica of the famous Chartres Labyrinth, laid in the floor of Chartres Cathedral around 1220.

In its classical form, the labyrinth consists of a single concentric circular path leading to the center. Walking the labyrinth is an ancient spiritual act and a physical meditation that is being rediscovered during our time.

We invite you to come to the quiet of St. Francis Woods and to take some time to enjoy our grounds and walk the labyrinth.

Begin by reflecting upon where you are in life. You may want to focus on a question, or find a statement that guides you to pray on the labyrinth. Use this time to quiet your
mind and to experience the presence of God with you.

You may choose to take time for your personal prayer or to walk to obtain a deeper understanding of God in your life. You may desire to pray for others, or you may wish to use the psalms or a scripture text as you walk and quietly reflect.

You are welcome to walk the labyrinth at any time.  Simply stop in the Portiuncula Center for Prayer and tell the staff that you are on the grounds.  Prayer guides are available for your labyrinth journey.
